“But it’s traditional”

Or is it? We’ve been speaking to a client about Blue Monday - the last Monday in January - which is supposed to be the bleakest day of the year so far.

Invented by Sky Travel, Blue Monday was an advertising stunt designed to get people to book their summer holidays so they had something to look forward to. And that’s not the only “tradition” started by marketers: Black Friday was started to shift old stock before new Christmas Stock came in. ‘Eat Five a Day’ was the invention of a fruit marketing board.

Marketers never know what’s going to catch on but what does hold good is that more that you put into your marketing, the more you’ll get back out.
